Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Last week my Dad and I were able to attend the Northwest and Pioneer League all-star game at Avista stadium, we were excited ever since we decided to go and reserved the tickets. After driver's ed Dad picked me up and we headed the ballpark.
We got our tickets from will call and went to get food. At the stand we ordered a hot dog, two soft drinks and I ordered a corn dog. They vendor at the stand told us we were out, but they were finishing up the next batch. We told her that it was no big deal, so we slid over to wait. I enjoyed watching the people shuffle about and do the pre - ball game activities. After some awkward silence the gentlemen working in between the two cashiers, stared at us for a moment and said " I hope this is the best corn dog you have ever had." Dad and I have been laughing about that for a while it was a great way to handle a awkward moment.
Getting our food we headed to find our seats, on the way there was a clown handing out tickets, like the ones you see at raffles. When asked what the tickets were for the clown replied "Nothing, but it's free!" Now what you must know is that I am deathly afraid of clowns and my plan of action was to politely keep on walking past. However, Dad not knowing I didn't like clowns stopped because he thought it was a funny gag and it was. Later in our a seats when I told him about my weird fear we both were laughing about it and I am glad I stopped and I have the memory of the clown handing out free tickets to nothing at the all-star game.
We got there in time to see the semi - finals and finals for the home run derby, the atmosphere in the stadium was electric as we cheered for the players as they hit the baseballs out of the park. After some pre game announcements the game started and was a close game the whole 10 innings, the game went so late Dad and I weren't home until almost 1 am, The Northwest team won which was the team we were rooting for.
I had a great time that evening not just because I enjoy a entertaining baseball game, but because it was fun to watch people having  a good time with family or friends. Those who have been to a multitude of games and those who were seeing it for the first time. I love the whole atmosphere of the ballpark hot dogs, vendors shouting up and down the bleachers, crazy mascots performing stunts on and off the field. Players out on the field doing the thing they love and a town enjoying a american pastime together.
Most importantly I loved spending time with my dad and I am so thankful that ever since I was a little girl he started doing daddy daughter dates with me and I love spending time with him whether it is just him and I or if we are doing something all as a family. I know that these memories are going to last me a lifetime. Any who that is for another post that you can tell I am already working on. Heeehee you have been warned.

A Quick Update and Some New Years Encouragement

Kamola looks great in the snow Guys! I haven't done a blog post in so long. Partly due to the craziness of college life, as fall quarter was insanely busy and partly due to my laptop acting out last quarter. Anyway, now I am back and on a working computer. Happy New Year everyone! Hope the holidays were spent with loved ones and were a restful time for all. I really enjoyed being home for a few weeks. My family and I had a lovely Christmas spending time together and focusing on what really matters. For me it was a time to reflect on how blessed I am and what God is doing in my life. Fall quarter was extremely busy. I took sixteen credits and was apart of a production of The Nutcracker.   Through that experience I learned not only technical dance skills, but also that bullies can still exist, even in adults. Working with difficult people is sometimes just apart of life. Overall the good that accompanied that show out weighed the bad and I am thankful for the experience. ...

The One With All The Updates

Erika and Madame Blueberry   The last few months have been crazy busy, full of adventures and the like. It would take forever to tell you everything that has happened, but I will attempt an overview. Since April I was a stage manager to an amazing show called The Lonesome West . I learned so much from the actors I worked with and the experience to produce theatre in the back of a records shop.  Soon after the show closed I took my finals, loaded up my Cadillac (named Madame Blueberry) and left Ellensburg for the summer. I only had a few days to unload my college boxes and reload Madame Blueberry for my summer job. Camp Lutherhaven  Camp Lutherhaven! What an incredible, God arranged summer. There were days I wondered if I was up for the job, but the people I met and the experiences we shared were irreplaceable. When I was at college I made a comment to my mom that all I had to focus and worry about was me and how easy it was to only be concerned about myself...

Build Up One Another

Let me start by saying this blog post was not in anyway shape or form inspired by current events or the news. However, it can be applied to the way society often acts. This blog post was inspired by a personal experience that lead to some self-reflection and opened up some wonderful conversations with friends.  Proverbs 15:4   “Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.”  Words can be so destructive. One side comment, one gossip conversation, one social media post, even one look can hurt someone. The action may take a few seconds or it could be longer, either way, the pain is still there.   So why do we find a need to bring other people down? Why as a sibling did we intentionally say something to hurt our brother or sister? Why do we find ourselves talking negatively about someone? What does any of that accomplish? Does it make us feel better about ourselves? Maybe in the moment, we stop thinking about our own insecurities a...
