Blessed Be The Ties

I have been blessed to know many people that hsve touched me in big or small ways. Some have passed and probably never known the memories I have of them. Lile the neighbor my great grandparents had who gave me stamps to play with one time, I remember when dad said she had died. As for great grandparents I have lost two, and as painful and saddening as that is, I can't help, but see how blessed I am to have known them and have them be apart of my life and to have one still living who I visit and write with. There have been others who I have known through church that have always been there that have gone and I think about. Those we meet impact us.
We also have our living family that surrounds us and goes through the time with us. Family forms a wall of protection around itself and we grieve and work together. Even though the time is sad I can't help but smile, because of the memories I made and the relationships that grew because of the time. This is like  church family.
A few years ago we had something happen to someone in our church whom I cared deeply for. We as a church were sad, but we all came together to help this person we formed that wall of protection and you know what? We acted as a body of unity, everyone did what she or he was talented at and together the tasks that needed to be done got done. This is how God uses his people for good and how he designed us to serve.
Now we must never forget our friends the ones that have climbed over mountains, forged rivers, and walked through a desert for friendship.  Those who have never left your side, the ones you call to cry. I am blessed to have a multiple of childhood friends and it is fun to watch us grow up together, face our giants and work as a team. I also have new friends I have met over time that are just as precious.  Even if you know them only for a year before you have to say goodbye because they move.  Friends are one of my favorite things in the world and a day doesn't go by that I dont talk to at least one of them.
However this year has shown me things can't and won't stay the same. People will grow up, people will graduate,  people will get jobs, people will leave, but people will come back. People will stay in contact and will work at knowing how you are doing.
I have had friends leave over the years,  I have had people change so much I wonder where the went. I remember telling my mom one time. "I miss someone who doesn't exist."
All the people who have touched my life have made my life amazing.  Thank you to all who are in it and hello to all those I am going to meet.

What I am Learning as a Student Rep

Student Representative? What's that? It is a great  role that one girl and one boy run for every year at my co-op. Last year two of my wonderful friends were elected. Rachel and Jakob did a fantastic job. They are part of the reason I decided to run for Student Rep this year.     To start this road of politics I had to write a speech. I spent some time trying to figure out what I wanted to say. I knew what I wanted to say, but I felt like I couldn't phrase it convincingly enough. In the end I decided to state a few ideas I had and not over promise. I went with the idea that we could worry about the election and then go from there with what we wanted to do as a group.     It was a fun election and in the end I was elected the girl student rep. Luke, the boy student rep won as well and he is such a great guy to work with. I have enjoyed getting to know him and sharing ideas back and forth. Luke is so funny, smart and has fantastic ideas about what ...

Signs You Might Be Entering Adulthood

The last month or so my head has been spinning with exciting life experiences, fun adventures and just plain mundane tasks. My first bit of advice for you on this post is no matter what age you are and people tell you not to try and grow up to fast. Do it! Adulthood comes hurling at you like a bullet. It is way better to just take it one step at a time. Remind me of this periodically when I want to charge ahead into life :)   1st Sign Adulthood is Near ~   " You Get Your Driver's License"   Getting my driver's license was one of the more challenging, yet most satisfying things I have done in a while. I love my new freedom to go where I need to without having to mess up my parents schedule. But wait...... this right of passage can be a trap and a sure sign you are headed to adulthood. When you have a vehicle you can now drive it will want one very important thing. Gas. and gas takes money, money requires a job, a job requires you to get to work, getting to wor...

Everything Fall For Erika

We are officially a month into my favorite time of year. As anyone who knows me or has been following this blog for a while knows, September through December are my favorite months of the year. I love all the holidays, weather, fashion, food, events, all of it! It makes me so happy and makes me smile. Here are a few things that I have been doing to get in the fall mode. 1. Fall Decor   My mom put this center piece together for our dinning room  and I am in love!  2. Flannel  I have had a recent obsession with flannel. I love wearing them with jeans, paired over a favorite tee, tied around with waist for jacket later, or under a sweater for a pop of pattern. There are just so many styles and I love how cozy and wonderful they are.  3. Fall Coffee Flavors, Fall Colors, and Beautiful Country Views  I am a coffee LOVER and I drink it all year round in many flavors and styles. When fall comes around my go to drink is a hot caramel...
