Erika's New Year Resolutions

It's the new year so that means I am going to be spending the next couple of weeks trying to turn all my 5's into 6's. The new year also comes with everyone making resolutions and I am not an exception. However, looking back on the ones I made last year I realized I wanted to make more specific goals that I could actually accomplish. So, without further ado here they are.
  1. More Organized in my Daily Life: I created cute meal plans for the next two weeks with the help of my mom. I really love doing this, not only do I know I am helping my family. but I also am learning important skills for later in my life. I also created daily to-do list templates that puts my whole day into one piece of paper. Needless to say I have had a lot of fun on Pinterest these last few days.
2, Get my Workouts in: My passion, ballet requires a level of physical strength and the only way to get better and stronger is with consistent practice and working out. This coming year I really want to up my game and commit to my workouts daily.
3. Prayer Journal: This is one area in my life that I was feeling I was really lacking. I got devotions in, but I felt like my prayers weren't really deep. Using the prayer journal and being able to write out what my heart is saying allows me to really have a important, uninterrupted conversation with my King. Excited to see how this is going to impact my life.
4. Photo a Day: This is a fun one, I got the idea from a bucket list prompt on Pinterest and then I collected a Instagram photo challenge for every month for my picture ideas. Check out my personal FB for the album or wait until the end of the month were I will do a blog post using the photos from that month.
That's it just four resolutions, but by keeping them minimal and direct I hope to actually get to the end of the year and be able to say that I accomplished them. It is easy to be encouraged and motivated when it is only the 3rd of January and real life hasn't started yet. But it is a new year with new adventures for me to go on, lessons to learn, experiences to experience, and things that I never expected to happen, to happen.
I have high hopes for 2016, I think it is going to be amazing and I am ready for God to take my life and guide me through this next year. I pray that I am open and responsive to his voice and I really can surrender my life to him. Which is always easier to say than to do. What are your New Year's resolutions?  Leave them in the comments. May your year be amazing!

The One Where I Graduate

Hey, Everyone! This girl did the thing, she got her diploma. Not without the help of some dear people. My teachers are incredible through the last few years at the co-op I have worked with me and taught me so many valuable and cherished lessons.  I have been blessed with a loving and hard-working Mother who has spent countless hours preparing and teaching lessons. She has spent time discussing, researching and praying over the best direction she needed to take with my education. My parents have encouraged me through any adventure I chose to embark on. They never let me believe I couldn't achieve whatever I set out to do. They taught me that hard work would always be rewarding, to always do best, and by example, they taught me to put others first and give when I can.  My brother James is truly the best brother in the world. He is my sidekick in life and we have had countless adventures together. He has shown me to accept whatever happens and be happy at the moment. He has taug...

Meet Riley!

Hey, so you remember all those posts I did in July? Yeah, me either....I am sorry guys. Summer has been great! Full of adventures and fun. We had our VBS, celebrated the 4th, I had my college orientation (a hopeful future post), we went camping, and enjoyed many days outside in the sunshine. Along with all these fun summer activities, there has been an addition to our family.     Everyone, meet Riley! A fun-loving, three-year-old, German Sheppard. She came to us through Spokanimal, but she is originally from LA. There, she was found on the streets and had just had puppies. We don't know what happened to the puppies but are thrilled to have her in our family. Riley loves grass absolutely loves it. She rolls around in it all the time and wants to be outside as much as she can. So far, she has loved everyone she has ever been around. The first day we got her we had our VBS team and a couple guys came over and she loved them. Last week we had twenty band kids over for a c...

New Roads

Another adventure I have been up to is driving, I started driver's ed about 3 weeks ago and what and adventure it has been. Between navigating the DMV for my permit, learning to deal with teachers and classmates that are different from what I am used too. Not to mention the actual driving, hehee that has been entertaining. One of my first times out, there was an incident involving a Zip's parking lot, a turn lane and a learning what a drive thru lane is. Moral of story I now know what a turn lane is, everyone lived and I am sure that the guy in the drive thru wasn't in shock for long, whoops! Last night's adventure involved a car trying to cut me off, driving in too close at the gas station,  a imaginary person in the road and hitting a porcupine. (Which I actually cried over) What I am learning is that I am never going to be instantly perfect at something I am going to mess up. The important thing to remember is I have amazing parents here to help me learn, a class ...
