My Winter Wonderland

I wanted to share some of these beautiful pictures I took for our town. One of my neighbors asked me back before Christmas if I would take some pictures of the frost and fresh snow. It was truly gorgeous out and it was a lovely stroll with the camera. Photography is becoming one of my favorite mini-hobbies. I love taking snap shots of the majestic art work of our creator.
I have a weird obsession of taking pictures
of street signs. This one is at the bottom of my block
and is a particular favorite to photograph all times of
                                        the year.

I have several pictures of this view. This
is Highway 27 leaving town. For some reason my
heart loves this view because I can leave and explore
the world, but I can always come back to my beloved little town.

This is if you take Highway 27 the
                                                                other way out of town.

                                                         Photographing even glimpses of
this beautiful mountain is thrilling. When
the mist rolls off it, it looks magical. Like out of
                                            a storybook.

This is my neighbors barn. This is probably the
most photographed barn in the history of  barns. I
am one of the many photographers that fall in love
with this barn, no matter what the photos always look
                                     like calendar shots.

City hall decked out in all of it's holiday decor.

Oh how I love the untouched beautiful of
this place. Nobody's touched it, clear, smooth snow
                                        with God's light shinning.

This one has no subject except the
vast landscape that surrounds our town.

This is one of my four icicle pictures.
the sunlight melted the ice ever so slightly
so that the lens caught the drips nicely.

The lightening of this one is exquisite

This one reminds me of a string of diamonds.

                                                    Our God's handiwork never ceases
                                                                     to amaze me.

This is the same mountain I was telling you about
in an earlier shot. I enjoyed framing it with the trees
and the bush in my front yard. This is my view every
                                        morning. How blessed am I?

My front door in my attempt at an artsy shot.

This photo shoot is different from other ones I have done. I love all of these pictures and love my little town.

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you had a good holiday with your family because I did. We traveled over to Richfield,  WA to visit with my Dad's family. This year we didn't do a "traditional" meal. We keep it simple,  but still nice.  Now as a girl who is very traditional,  when I first learned of this I was shocked! But as the day progessed I began thinking more about traditions. What do they really mean? How do they get started?   Here is where my thoughts lead me. I started with the traditions my family has and why we have them. Some of them we just do because we enjoy them and over time it became a tradition.  Others are used as a means of keeping family memories alive. All of the reasons are really good, but why do I get thrown for a loop so much when we don't do something the exact same way we have always done it.   What I really decided was, traditions are fun, but who you are chosing and how yoyr chosing to make memories with is wha...

What I am Learning as a Student Rep

Student Representative? What's that? It is a great  role that one girl and one boy run for every year at my co-op. Last year two of my wonderful friends were elected. Rachel and Jakob did a fantastic job. They are part of the reason I decided to run for Student Rep this year.     To start this road of politics I had to write a speech. I spent some time trying to figure out what I wanted to say. I knew what I wanted to say, but I felt like I couldn't phrase it convincingly enough. In the end I decided to state a few ideas I had and not over promise. I went with the idea that we could worry about the election and then go from there with what we wanted to do as a group.     It was a fun election and in the end I was elected the girl student rep. Luke, the boy student rep won as well and he is such a great guy to work with. I have enjoyed getting to know him and sharing ideas back and forth. Luke is so funny, smart and has fantastic ideas about what ...

The One Where I Graduate

Hey, Everyone! This girl did the thing, she got her diploma. Not without the help of some dear people. My teachers are incredible through the last few years at the co-op I have worked with me and taught me so many valuable and cherished lessons.  I have been blessed with a loving and hard-working Mother who has spent countless hours preparing and teaching lessons. She has spent time discussing, researching and praying over the best direction she needed to take with my education. My parents have encouraged me through any adventure I chose to embark on. They never let me believe I couldn't achieve whatever I set out to do. They taught me that hard work would always be rewarding, to always do best, and by example, they taught me to put others first and give when I can.  My brother James is truly the best brother in the world. He is my sidekick in life and we have had countless adventures together. He has shown me to accept whatever happens and be happy at the moment. He has taug...
