Family Profiles: My Handsome Brother

In the season of thankfulness I am truly thankful for my relationship with my brother. Sure we argue and fight like siblings do. However, we are always there for each other too. This last year or maybe these last couple of years it has seemed like my brother has grown up a lot.
He has always been sweet, kind, extremely patient and funny. He is often the first to go out into the cold to retrieve a bag of pellets. Go to the kitchen to get us snacks when I am too lazy to leave the couch ( pitiful I know!!!) He will get that goofy grin on his face in the middle of a seemingly, world ending catastrophe. Because he remembered something funny from one of his TV shows.
I love watching him serve at church. Whether it is being an usher, running sound or taking time to talk to those who need a listening ear. Wednesday nights you can find him running around in the basement of our church leading games at Kid's Club.
At my 16th birthday party he danced with me and the cutest part I thought, He danced with a little girl from our church who adores him. It was the cutest sight to watch, She was smiling from ear to ear afterwards.
James also has a talent and love for music way stronger than I ever had. He has gorgeous trumpet tone and truly loves music. Much like my mom and dad love music. Where I will go crazy after listening to jazz for an extended period of time. He can and loves to listen to it for hours.
My brother has this hidden talent of whistling. He is an amazing whistler. I can here him standing at the sink and whistling full movie scores. The first time I heard him do it I thought he had a youtube video playing or something.
This last year James has joined CAP ( Civil Air Patrol). He really loves it and has even flown a plane! It is an odd feeling the day your brother is up in the sky flying a plane before you have had your first day of driver's ed. I am always taken a back when I see him in his uniform. He is so handsome that I am overwhelmed. He has his first pinning coming up in December and I can't wait to be there and support him.
After I have had a long day of rehearsals and school or whatever else is going on in my life. He is right there with a hug, a helping hand, and an offer of tea or hot chocolate. He will carry my stuff up to my room when I am exhausted or whatever I ask him.
Most of all he always tells me he loves me, he hugs me in public and will give me his coat or jacket if I am cold without batting an eye. James is a true gentleman and I am lucky to have him. He actually told me this one time when we were climbing in the car. " Well, you will probably end up with this," tossing his jacket into the back seat.
James, I love the man you are becoming. I know I am not the easiest person to live with, but thank you for always being there for me no matter what. You are so smart, handsome, and kind. God has great plans for you and I am excited to see what he is going to do with your life. Most of all no matter where our journeys take us, don't forget I am you sister and I will always be there to call in the middle of the night or to come over and go do goofy things. I always want to be your friend. Thank you for being my brother.
     Your Big Sister

The One Where I Graduate

Hey, Everyone! This girl did the thing, she got her diploma. Not without the help of some dear people. My teachers are incredible through the last few years at the co-op I have worked with me and taught me so many valuable and cherished lessons.  I have been blessed with a loving and hard-working Mother who has spent countless hours preparing and teaching lessons. She has spent time discussing, researching and praying over the best direction she needed to take with my education. My parents have encouraged me through any adventure I chose to embark on. They never let me believe I couldn't achieve whatever I set out to do. They taught me that hard work would always be rewarding, to always do best, and by example, they taught me to put others first and give when I can.  My brother James is truly the best brother in the world. He is my sidekick in life and we have had countless adventures together. He has shown me to accept whatever happens and be happy at the moment. He has taug...

Meet Riley!

Hey, so you remember all those posts I did in July? Yeah, me either....I am sorry guys. Summer has been great! Full of adventures and fun. We had our VBS, celebrated the 4th, I had my college orientation (a hopeful future post), we went camping, and enjoyed many days outside in the sunshine. Along with all these fun summer activities, there has been an addition to our family.     Everyone, meet Riley! A fun-loving, three-year-old, German Sheppard. She came to us through Spokanimal, but she is originally from LA. There, she was found on the streets and had just had puppies. We don't know what happened to the puppies but are thrilled to have her in our family. Riley loves grass absolutely loves it. She rolls around in it all the time and wants to be outside as much as she can. So far, she has loved everyone she has ever been around. The first day we got her we had our VBS team and a couple guys came over and she loved them. Last week we had twenty band kids over for a c...

New Roads

Another adventure I have been up to is driving, I started driver's ed about 3 weeks ago and what and adventure it has been. Between navigating the DMV for my permit, learning to deal with teachers and classmates that are different from what I am used too. Not to mention the actual driving, hehee that has been entertaining. One of my first times out, there was an incident involving a Zip's parking lot, a turn lane and a learning what a drive thru lane is. Moral of story I now know what a turn lane is, everyone lived and I am sure that the guy in the drive thru wasn't in shock for long, whoops! Last night's adventure involved a car trying to cut me off, driving in too close at the gas station,  a imaginary person in the road and hitting a porcupine. (Which I actually cried over) What I am learning is that I am never going to be instantly perfect at something I am going to mess up. The important thing to remember is I have amazing parents here to help me learn, a class ...
