Things I Know and Do Because of My Incredible Mother!

Happy Mother's Day everyone! I hope you are doing special for your mom, whether you call her, spend the day with her, treat her with a small trinket of your affection or simply tell her how much she means to you. No matter how you chose to celebrate Mother's Day let her know she is special and you appreciate everything she has done for you.
I would give the argument that I have the best Mother in the world, but that would start a riot with many of you disagreeing with me, including my mom who would tell me she had the best mother. The truth is many of us would say we got the best Mom. In my case, of course, it's true :) My mom does so much for me big and small. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here writing this blog. She took on my education and has never given up on me. She loved me when I was unlovable, she has been an excellent role model every day of my life. My mom has never let me think a dream was out of reach. She has always let me become my own person. What she may not know is I have most wanted to be her.
I can honestly tell you my mom is more that just someone who provides for my needs and guides me through life. She does that and so much more. She goes above and beyond daily to make sure every day is the best day it can be for my benefit. My mom and I's relationship is one of the most precious things in my life. I am not looking forward to not seeing each other ever day. I love that I look like her, I say things and her voice comes out, making me smile. If you haven't picked up on it already, I LOVE, ADORE and LOOK UP TO my Mom. She is an incredible human being and a bright spot in my day every day.
Now that I am done with mushy stuff, here are 10  things I have learned from my mom.

1. Life is too short for boring socks
2. The first and second cup of coffee is a must, it's the third you debate about
3. Desert is not complete without coffee
4. If it isn't raining or snowing the top should be off the Jeep
5. More cowbell
6. No matter the size of your vehicle whatever you need to take with you will probably fit
7.  Work hard
8. You don't have to be serious all the time
9. Red hair isn't painted on
10. Jael in the Bible has more guts than any of us (Judges 4.21)

This is not even close to everything I have learned from her but it is some stuff that goes through my head throughout the day because of my mom. Happy Mother's Day! And thanks Mom for everything you do for me, I love you the mostest.

What I am Learning as a Student Rep

Student Representative? What's that? It is a great  role that one girl and one boy run for every year at my co-op. Last year two of my wonderful friends were elected. Rachel and Jakob did a fantastic job. They are part of the reason I decided to run for Student Rep this year.     To start this road of politics I had to write a speech. I spent some time trying to figure out what I wanted to say. I knew what I wanted to say, but I felt like I couldn't phrase it convincingly enough. In the end I decided to state a few ideas I had and not over promise. I went with the idea that we could worry about the election and then go from there with what we wanted to do as a group.     It was a fun election and in the end I was elected the girl student rep. Luke, the boy student rep won as well and he is such a great guy to work with. I have enjoyed getting to know him and sharing ideas back and forth. Luke is so funny, smart and has fantastic ideas about what ...

Signs You Might Be Entering Adulthood

The last month or so my head has been spinning with exciting life experiences, fun adventures and just plain mundane tasks. My first bit of advice for you on this post is no matter what age you are and people tell you not to try and grow up to fast. Do it! Adulthood comes hurling at you like a bullet. It is way better to just take it one step at a time. Remind me of this periodically when I want to charge ahead into life :)   1st Sign Adulthood is Near ~   " You Get Your Driver's License"   Getting my driver's license was one of the more challenging, yet most satisfying things I have done in a while. I love my new freedom to go where I need to without having to mess up my parents schedule. But wait...... this right of passage can be a trap and a sure sign you are headed to adulthood. When you have a vehicle you can now drive it will want one very important thing. Gas. and gas takes money, money requires a job, a job requires you to get to work, getting to wor...

The One Where I Graduate

Hey, Everyone! This girl did the thing, she got her diploma. Not without the help of some dear people. My teachers are incredible through the last few years at the co-op I have worked with me and taught me so many valuable and cherished lessons.  I have been blessed with a loving and hard-working Mother who has spent countless hours preparing and teaching lessons. She has spent time discussing, researching and praying over the best direction she needed to take with my education. My parents have encouraged me through any adventure I chose to embark on. They never let me believe I couldn't achieve whatever I set out to do. They taught me that hard work would always be rewarding, to always do best, and by example, they taught me to put others first and give when I can.  My brother James is truly the best brother in the world. He is my sidekick in life and we have had countless adventures together. He has shown me to accept whatever happens and be happy at the moment. He has taug...
