Prince and Princesses

God is good all the time and all the time God is good. This week I spent serving alongside twenty-four volunteers from Trinity Baptist Church in Renton WA and around eighteen volunteers from the Latah area. We put on VBA (Vacation Bible Adventures) Trinity Baptist has been coming to Latah for about fourteen years sharing the love of Christ through songs, skits, crafts, games and so much more. I have had the privilege of being both a child that was touched through the program and serve at VBA for the past four years.
The week after VBA 2011 when I dressed up as a VBA leader

Over time I have been blessed by many friendships, been inspired by countless mentors and looked up to many God loving people. This year however, I felt touched more than ever. I was able to have a unique part in VBA due to something I originally thought was a hindrance. Earlier in the year I believed I was not going to get a chance to serve at VBA this year. Due to three jobs and the new chapters I am beginning in my life. Yet, God is good. I ended up getting the week off from my job at a Touch of Country due to no weddings and I only had one of my babysitting jobs.

Getting coffee in Couer d' Alene with Elly and Ashlyn

However, not signing up for anything at VBA and not really knowing my schedule until the week of set me up to be a float at VBA. Filling in where the need was the greatest. Being in this position I was able practically be a "fly on the wall" at VBA. Only it was better than being a "fly on the wall"  because not only did I get a over all view of the program I was still able to great the kids every morning as the came down the stairs with the biggest smiles on their faces.

Working the store with Mrs.Craine, Mrs.Hogan and my mom

As a unified team we were able to bring the truth to around ninety-one different kids and that is amazing to me. Ninety-one different lives were affected in some way and I will never know how many people those ninety-one kids will touch.  More than the kids were touched this week though. I was grown spiritual and nurtured by other brothers and sisters in Christ.
Between having three meals a day together for about six days, blessing the community through work projects and worshiping together at Bible studies in the evenings. All of it touched me but I think that my small group was the best. Every night one girl from the team shared a Bible study with the group and then we broke up into small groups. In our small groups we answered the questions about the Bible study. The young women in my small group were all so open, encouraging and filled with a love for their King that was refreshing. So many times I forget how important and refreshing it is to fellowship with other believers.

Then in the mornings after breakfast the whole team gathered in the basement of the church and sang together. Hearing roughly thirty voices worshiping was inspiring. Somehow and I don't know why it was different from my church services. We were all their for the same reason and as we prayed for the kids we were grown closer.
I am not sure I can tell you exactly what I learned this week, but I can tell you I have matured and that I am excited for the year ahead. So if you think of it, in your prayers remember that there are ninety-one lives that could be lifted up.

What I am Learning as a Student Rep

Student Representative? What's that? It is a great  role that one girl and one boy run for every year at my co-op. Last year two of my wonderful friends were elected. Rachel and Jakob did a fantastic job. They are part of the reason I decided to run for Student Rep this year.     To start this road of politics I had to write a speech. I spent some time trying to figure out what I wanted to say. I knew what I wanted to say, but I felt like I couldn't phrase it convincingly enough. In the end I decided to state a few ideas I had and not over promise. I went with the idea that we could worry about the election and then go from there with what we wanted to do as a group.     It was a fun election and in the end I was elected the girl student rep. Luke, the boy student rep won as well and he is such a great guy to work with. I have enjoyed getting to know him and sharing ideas back and forth. Luke is so funny, smart and has fantastic ideas about what ...

The One Where I Graduate

Hey, Everyone! This girl did the thing, she got her diploma. Not without the help of some dear people. My teachers are incredible through the last few years at the co-op I have worked with me and taught me so many valuable and cherished lessons.  I have been blessed with a loving and hard-working Mother who has spent countless hours preparing and teaching lessons. She has spent time discussing, researching and praying over the best direction she needed to take with my education. My parents have encouraged me through any adventure I chose to embark on. They never let me believe I couldn't achieve whatever I set out to do. They taught me that hard work would always be rewarding, to always do best, and by example, they taught me to put others first and give when I can.  My brother James is truly the best brother in the world. He is my sidekick in life and we have had countless adventures together. He has shown me to accept whatever happens and be happy at the moment. He has taug...

The One Where I go to Prom...

Huge weekend, everyone! I had the first of my last dance recitals and then I left immediately for Senior Prom. With my best friend since childhood. How did this homeschooled girl get so lucky as to go to a Senior Prom? Well, it starts with having an amazing guy. I have no idea what is with my face in this picture  When I was three years old we became friends with this amazing family. They had a son my age and we became close friends. We even did kindergarten together, we go camping every summer with them, we did band together and we took some senior pictures together. We keep in contact and hang out, but not as much as we used too, due to the changing seasons in each of ours lives and the busyness of being Seniors.  About a month ago, when I got back from Oklahoma. I came back from dance one night and Mom said I needed to call Brandon. I figured it had something to do with graduation and coordinating getting together or something along that line. So, I called ...
