My Best Friend

Hello everyone!  Today I am introducing you to my best friend Grace Michelson she is 13 and amazing. She is a accomplished musician favorite instrument saxophone, an very talented artist, and she always makes me smile.
We have known each other since forever, and have gone through a lot. In the course of the countless years we have known eachother, we have done a million things. Family camping trips that started with our moms taking all of us kids camping ( Grace and me and our siblings) and now we all go, changing the camp name from mommy camp to Michelainen camp. More sleepovers then you can count, several baking days, days that we all went on field trips together, days we just hung out and did nothing but talk.
Most of all we make memories together. Like, Sarah her mom sneeking in to her room at one of our sleepovers after Abby and Cora had gone to sleep and she painted our nails, like us trying mochas for the first time with our moms, like us sleeping out on the fort in the summer, like me counting the days till she got back from Seattle when she turned 10, like Brandon having to climb up to the top of the play equitment to get us down because we got scared after climbing to the top, and most of all dancing at 6am in the morning to the radio in her grandparents milking barn when milking the cow!
Now our friendship hasn't always been perfect,  there was a time where I left Gracie and all her siblings which are like my siblings for another friend and I hurt them. But she was right there to catch me when that friend turned on me. Grace and her family are always there.
I also call Grace my bodyguard, my sister,  my friend she is always there, always has me and God has blessed me with this amazing girl that I am watching grow into a young woman. I remember crying in her empty bedroom when they moved from up the street to Priest River.  But even though we are far apart now, when I get together with Grace and her family it's like we have never been apart.  I love my 5 extra siblings!

What I am Learning as a Student Rep

Student Representative? What's that? It is a great  role that one girl and one boy run for every year at my co-op. Last year two of my wonderful friends were elected. Rachel and Jakob did a fantastic job. They are part of the reason I decided to run for Student Rep this year.     To start this road of politics I had to write a speech. I spent some time trying to figure out what I wanted to say. I knew what I wanted to say, but I felt like I couldn't phrase it convincingly enough. In the end I decided to state a few ideas I had and not over promise. I went with the idea that we could worry about the election and then go from there with what we wanted to do as a group.     It was a fun election and in the end I was elected the girl student rep. Luke, the boy student rep won as well and he is such a great guy to work with. I have enjoyed getting to know him and sharing ideas back and forth. Luke is so funny, smart and has fantastic ideas about what ...

Signs You Might Be Entering Adulthood

The last month or so my head has been spinning with exciting life experiences, fun adventures and just plain mundane tasks. My first bit of advice for you on this post is no matter what age you are and people tell you not to try and grow up to fast. Do it! Adulthood comes hurling at you like a bullet. It is way better to just take it one step at a time. Remind me of this periodically when I want to charge ahead into life :)   1st Sign Adulthood is Near ~   " You Get Your Driver's License"   Getting my driver's license was one of the more challenging, yet most satisfying things I have done in a while. I love my new freedom to go where I need to without having to mess up my parents schedule. But wait...... this right of passage can be a trap and a sure sign you are headed to adulthood. When you have a vehicle you can now drive it will want one very important thing. Gas. and gas takes money, money requires a job, a job requires you to get to work, getting to wor...

Travel Blog: Spring Getaway to the Farm

"Home Sweet Home is never truer, than after a trip. No matter how long or how short. No matter how good and memorable. There is nothing happier than walking through the rooms in your home, letting all the familiar things greet you. The home watched the chaos of packing and preparing for your adventure and it is there to greet the tired and exhausted you, when you come home. It watches as you unpack your bags and sink into your favorite chair and smile at the pictures. It sings you to sleep as you drift off with the happy memories of your trip." ~ Erika Laulainen  Our family just returned from a marvelous trip to my great grandparents tree farm. We went to spend some time with my Great-Grandmother and Grandparents.  We left Friday after the morning craziness of work, some school, packing, cleaning the house, and any other little chores that needed  to be finished. Loading all the suitcases, bags, and other various paraphernalia into our car, we then did a last c...
